You may have noticed that a ReviewMe paid review appeared on this blog. Am I selling out?
Well, being a work-from-home freelancer, I am exploring new ways of making money online. But I don’t want to compromise the quality of my personal blog. I put too much time and effort into it.
The good thing about ReviewMe.com is that the review does not have to be positive. So I will try to always say what I feel. Right now, being on the bottom of the ReviewMe food chain, the only offers I’m receiving are for sites that are spammy or just plain crappy. I only will review sites that have some interest to this blog’s topics, and are at least attempts at something useful. If I think sites need improvement, that’s what constructive criticism is about.
Ideally, I would like to review those cool sites that any blogger would be glad to review for free. But they don’t pay for reviews, do they?

I would like to ask the readers, is it annoying in any way to read a blog with payed reviews?

Welcome to web 2.1, the social web. Following MySpace, Facebook, Blogger and others, it’s the new thing. Site owners realized that their real power is their users, and getting them more involved can only do good. Thoughts.com is a social networking site that offers free blogs for the users, as well as the Thoughts.com Forums.

The forum is quite alive, and has over 30,000 members. The sub forums cover a super-wide range of subjects, and basically covers anything and everything. I think this can be useful so every user finds his niche, but sometimes over broadening the spectrum can be overwhelming for users that want to belong to something more specific.

The site home page contains latest blog posts as well as latest news.
The site offers photo, video and podcast uploading systems, made simple for users. Again, a lack in proper categorizing makes the spectrum a bit too broad for a user to actually find content he is looking for. Most podcasts are just songs. Podcast episodes do not seem to be linked together, which is a real downside is someone wants to get seriously into podcasting. Same with photos, only one category, uncategorized, which contains 823 pages of pure randomness.

As for the blogging service, there’s no distinctive style and all the posts look a bit mashed together. I thought I would be able to write more about this, but it looks quite disappointing.

Bottom Line, Users are king, and with the nice number of users, this site definitely has potential, but is also needs some fine-tuning.

This is a paid review

I just came back form Scandinavia last week. I was touring Denmark, Sweden (well, kindu just drove through, but I did visit Gothenburg) and Norway.
Sooner or later I’ll upload a photo album, but for now, I will share one photo, taken in the Geirangerfjord area in Norway. Obviously, most photos taken in that area are landscape pictures, zooming out all the way to catch as much of the (amazing) view possible. I have tons of those, and I’m sure most of you saw enough of those. But this is a close-up picture I took of mushrooms and other stuff growing on a rock, next to a melting glacier. as big as they may look, each mushroom was about the size of a penny. Enjoy!
I uploaded some pictures to this album.

Now for my weekly screenshot. This week i used one of my Sinai pictures, but with the quality not being the greatest, I blurred it a bit to give it the look of an oil painting. If people think its good enough, I will release it here.
