SuperCook.com and the pace of web 2.0.1b

picture-1.pngOnly 5 days ago, I purchased ResourcefulCooking.com. The plan was as follows: Create a search engine, that indexes the top recipe sites, and is searchable by ingredient. As a chef-wannabe, but also an empty fridge cook, the idea was natural. What better way to find out what to do with 2 onions, a carrot and a pack of ground beef.

Then a day later, my RSS notifier beeped. One of the new articles was about a new recipe search engine, with features exactly like I described above, and implementation beyond perfect. it’s called SuperCook”

Yes, I can always be no. 2, or if I work hard enough, beat them and become #1. But I’m not going to waste my time on something that was already done, especially when it was done so nicely. Kudos!

Now here comes the scary part. What if SuperCook would be launched only after I spent hundreds of hours, or worse, thousands of dollars in my new project? As far as I know, there’s no answer.

  1. Jason Cole says:

Why not just make a cooking directory, with links to a wide variety of other cooking resources, such as recipes.
